About Our Retreat Leader Rev. Rebecca Messman
We are very fortunate to have “Becca” Messman as our retreat leader, for she is noted in her church, the greater Herndon community, and National Capital Presbytery for her insightful preaching, writing, event leadership, mission development, and organizational skills. She has been a key leader in Trinity’s Lunch for the Soul ministry that began with a handful of Hispanic day laborers and has expanded to serve hundreds of families. She is equally adept at working with young children, youth, and elderly adults, and bringing all ages together in intergenerational happenings. (And, yes, she is experienced in leading PW retreats.) Her specific accomplishments in church leadership and program development are too numerous to list here, but what most people remember about Becca is her perky personality, relentless enthusiasm, deep empathy for all kinds of people, and the natural sense of spirituality one feels in her presence.
Becca grew up in Danville, Virginia, received her education at the University of Virginia and Princeton Theological Seminary, and now lives in Arlington with her husband Dave, their children Grace (5) and Davis (almost 2), and dog Luna (the real “head of household”?). Her hobbies include voracious reading, bridge, Ultimate Frisbee, and running, but these are eclipsed by the joys of parenting and of studying Scripture and applying it to mission and everyday discipleship. Come to the retreat, meet or re-meet Becca, and be renewed!
PS. Becca asks that participants bring a cup to the retreat –
